Midwifery

Assist women in preparing for one of the most important moments of her life: help her during pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding and prepare the parents-to-be for the happy event. You’ll gain all the experience you’ll need right from the first semester.

Did you know, …

… that you will be putting theory into clinical practice right from the first semester?

You’ll extend your skills each semester during your internship and our teaching staff will support you via Skype and e-learning.

Did you know, …

… that work placements make up half the course?

You’ll gather experience in all the departments while on work placement – from outpatients to the delivery room and maternity ward. There’s also an opportunity to accompany registered midwives, and you can also do an internship abroad.

Did you know, …

… that breastfeeding and advice play an important part in our training and research projects?

So you’ll always be right up-to-date. You might, for example, play an active part in creating an electronic breastfeeding record or help analyse breast milk.

Did you know, …

… that our Institute focuses on the academic evaluation of midwives’ performance?

So you’ll get an objective view of what midwives do. You’ll also examine best practice models so you’ll be able to implement these in your future field of work.

Did you know, …

… that we only invite the best?

Numerous guest lecturers, both from Austria and abroad, teach on our programme and incorporate their practical expertise into the course.

Did you know, …

… that we offer skills and simulation labs to train specific skills and obstetric scenarios?

You’ll learn to evaluate your own performance on video and how to improve it. So you’ll build up valuable experience in a secure environment which you can put into practice later. These practical exercises always follow on directly from the theoretical sessions as a way of preparing for the work placement.
