What is the admissions process?

Note

Depending upon the COVID-19 situation at the time, the admission procedure 2021 will either be carried out on site or online. You will find all details here shortly. You will also receive an e-mail with all important information in good time before the admission procedure.

As there are only 30 openings annually in the Master’s programme Business in Emerging Markets, we make a careful selection of students before the Master’s programme starts. All applicants who fulfil the application requirements will be invited to the admissions process.

All admission decisions are made in an objective and transparent manner, based on an admissions process which consists of the following steps, each carrying different weights in the final admission decision (in parentheses).

  • Developing methodical, subject-specific and / or interdisciplinary tasks (35 %)
  • Interview with the admissions committee (35 %)
  • Overall assessment of prior education (15%)
  • Complete evaluation of prior practical experience (15%)

As the Master’s degree programme in Business in Emerging Markets is taught in English, the language of the entire admissions process is English.

The written assessment test

The methodical, subject-specific and / or interdisciplinary tasks are to be developed individually, in written form.

This written assessment test aims to evaluate the following competencies:

  • Basic understanding of business processes
  • Analytical and logical thinking
  • Critical reflection and argumentation skills.

Tip

It is also possible to take the assessment test online and conduct the admissions interview via Skype in justified cases.

The personal interview

All candidates are also invited to a personal interview, which will take place after the test. The interview conducted by the admissions committee of the degree programme. It will last around 20 to 30 minutes.

You have the opportunity to demonstrate your specialist knowledge and motivation, suitability and aptitude for the course and for a career in business.
