Nehmen Sie am FHJ Arctic Expedition Team teil

(c) FH JOANNEUM - Muckenhuber

The Institute for Industrial Management organizes an expedition to Greenland in summer 2025 as part of a new interdisciplinary course ‘Arctic Technology (5ECTS/4SWS)’. Technical prototypes will be developed and tested in the FH JOANNEUM Smart Production Lab. ALL FH JOANNEUM students may apply to join the team!  An information evening with Stefan Muckenhuber and Thomas Gölles will take place online on 10 October at 6 pm for further information.

@Technical students: We are specifically looking for new ideas related to digitalization and automatization of the newly established Austrian Polar Research Station.

@Design students: We are specifically looking for students creating content, pictures and videos before, during and after the expedition.

@ALL FH JOANNEUM students: We are looking for any new and exciting research topic related to the Arctic.

Integrating the expedition into your BSC/MSC thesis, a publication, or ongoing research at FH JOANNEUM is an advantage during the application process. The following institutes provide financial support and hold therefore reserved places for students:

The course ‘Arctic Technology (5ECTS/4SWS)’ will be led by Assoc. Prof. (FH) Stefan Muckenhuber and Dr. Thomas Gölles. Both have long experience with Arctic research and are former residents of Svalbard.

The goal of the FHJ ARCTIC EXPEDITION TEAM is to train the next generation of Arctic experts. All team members shall gain a good overview on technology and research topics relevant for the Arctic and shall be prepared to independently lead future Arctic expeditions. The expedition will be organized and led by the FHJ ARCTIC EXPEDITION TEAM. Stefan Muckenhuber and Thomas Gölles will actively support the team during every phase of the expedition and guide the team in Greenland. During the expedition, the developed technical use cases and field studies will be implemented and data will be collected. The participants will write a field report and give a presentation after the expedition.
