Experimental poster design – how to make a difference
Advertising pillars, city light posters, super posters, large-scale posters or blow-up posters are omnipresent and ideally attract attention. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of poster design by looking at examples having been designed by the advertising agency EN GARDE. Then, each participant will develop his or her own creative poster on a specific topic.
Benjamin Hable
The basics of animation – frame by frame by frame by frame
From the first moving pictures to the 12 principles of animation, an overview of what makes a good animation – regardless of the medium – is given in fast forward. To get a better feel for this topic, the participants put what they have learned into practice in the form of flipbooks.
Markus Karlseder & Thomas Turner
Prototyping in VR – the process from the idea to the implementation
Film production, animation, VR, AR – the participants get insights into the exciting work of Mindconsole. Afterwards, the participants will dive into the virtual world by using “Oculus Quest 2” glasses and have the chance to develop their own ideas in the field of VR application, UX and game design.

Future Perfect – How to speculate about the future and drive change
Speculative design and foresight methods are part of the toolbox of progressive designers who want to challenge the status quo with their work. Through these methods, the future becomes tangible and visible. In this workshop we will explore how something new comes into this world and how we as designers can help to give birth to it. This workshop will give you the tools for creative foresight processes. There will be Tarot!

How to talk to sound designers so that they understand you
This workshop is all about sound design – practical examples complement a general introduction to the world of music for advertising, film and video games. Participants will also learn where to find resources for music and what to look out for when planning soundtracks. In addition, participants will work together on the soundtrack for an image film.

Scenographic intervention: „Bring the Bonbonniere to Life”
Introduction to the world of a Graz-based agency for visual communication, space and scenography. The focus of the workshop lies on the topics of staging, on the question of what makes a good exhibition and on what is meant by scenography. Afterwards, the participants will create a scenographic intervention for the launch of the alumni magazine “Bonbonniere” of the Institute of Design and Communication.

Analog workshop – bookbinding as an experiment
This workshop is about the craft of bookbinding. Over the centuries, many different binding techniques and types of binding have been developed and reinterpreted again and again. Some old techniques are taken up again, especially by designers, and put into a contemporary context.
The participants of this workshop will have the opportunity to experiment with different binding techniques. In this process, the special material properties of paper – the central material – will be explored and rediscovered.
The day was a great success for all involved people and will be continued next year!
