In a Taxi with Florian Klenk – Impressions of the 13th European Media Summit
In a Taxi with Florian Klenk - Impressions of the 13th European Media Summit Christina Harrich, 31. January 2020“The Torn World – Radical Developments and Old Enemies in the New Europe”: This was the topic of a talk by experts from politics and the media at the European Media Summit in Lech am Arlberg. Four students from the Institute of Journalism and Public Relations (PR) also took part via an EU scholarship programme and used the opportunity to network and participate in discussions.
Together with Matteo Eichhorn, Christian Esterl, Jasmin Spreer and eight other scholarship holders, I spent three days at the 13th European Media Summit in Lech. During 15 exciting panel discussions and keynotes, we produced content for the social media channels of the Media Summit.

Already on the first evening, one of the highlights was on the programme: a dinner with Othmar Karas, Vice-President of the European Parliament. Between veal goulash and dessert variation, each of us expressed a personal wish to the European Union, for example a free Interrail ticket for all 18-year-olds.
Another top-class guest of the Media Summit was Florian Klenk. Although, according to his own statement, he only took part “because of the great hotel pool”, the discussion with media lawyer Maria Windhager was a complete success.
On the last day, Florian Gasser, Matthias Daum, and Lenz Jacobsen took the transalpine podcast “Servus. Hello. Hallo” live on stage. Together with NEOS MEP Claudia Gamon, they talked about enemy images in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

This ended the official part of the media summit, but one of the highlights was still to come for Matteo Eichhorn and me: We shared the shuttle to St. Anton with Florian Klenk by chance. After a talk about hotel pools, salmon roll events and journalism, we naturally did not miss the chance to take a souvenir photo.
