The BRICK-BIKE is a balance bike for children that can be converted into a bicycle and was developed as part of a bachelor’s thesis. Parents rent the bike with a subscription system and send it back to the provider when it becomes too big for the child, who then inspects it. The wearing parts are replaced, and the bike can be subscribed to by another family.

Jury statement: With the Brick-Bike, you notice that it is designed as a holistic system. From its creation to its utilisation, to its return. It’s not about ownership, but about participation.

TANTJE is an interactive indoor gardening shelving system that makes it possible to grow various low-complexity crops at a working height adapted for children. The focus of the work was to provide children – regardless of their origin, their financial background or the eating behaviour of their families – with a basic building block for a general understanding of seasonal and regional nutrition.

Jury statement: Tantje enables (young) children to learn where food comes from, and which foods are seasonal. A small botanical garden that, with its innovative, creative approach, can teach young people how food should be handled.
