Abstraction is an important part in the creation of graphical content these days. It is experiencing a strong rise, especially in time-based media such as animation or motion graphics. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to investigate the processes of abstraction in order to be able to use them in the production of animation and motion graphics.
Using the video Stubbornness is timeless, the fundamental processes behind abstraction as a mode of representation in art were examined. The history of abstract animation and its links to abstract art, the properties of abstract animation, and methods of narration in a non-figurative animation are also discussed by the author. The workpiece of this bachelor’s thesis explains in practise the above-mentioned aspects of abstract animation.
