Art in context

How can a visitor‒friendly presentation and museum communication in art exhibitions form a holistic, contemporary, curatorial work? This thesis investigates all of the elements of a communicative situation, as they determine the understanding of art at the exhibition venue. This includes the spatial and linguistic context, as well as the visitor’s social and personal context. The intention of this thesis is to provide an innovative way of looking at art which unites the basic presentation with a conveyance of knowledge about the piece of art and its relevant contexts. A fictional exhibition concept serves as an example of how a presentation which includes an artistic‒didactic conveyance could appear.
