Implementation of Dual Higher Education in Georgia
Consortium Meeting Graz

Consortium Meeting Graz

The introduction of Dual Higher Education (DHE) in Georgia aims to enable students to acquire more relevant knowledge and skills for a desired career field. In the dual training, classic higher education is combined with the skills acquired on the job. In this way, the students can build up exactly those skills that correspond to the actual needs of the job market.

With the start of employment and training in the desired professional field during the course of study, not only the motivation of the students will increase, but also that of the training company partners.

The companies should contribute ideas and suggestions for the curricula, develop and offer training content together with the university (also in the form of microcredentials), and participate in the development of the evaluation criteria for the knowledge gained.

The specific objectives of the DUGEOR project are

  • Identifying the needs and specific requirements of companies in different industries and business areas for DHE
  • Finding companies to participate in the pilot implementation of DHE
  • Developing a flexible and generic dual university model to meet the different needs of everyone Engaging with stakeholders and making recommendations to universities for the implementation of DHE;
  • Proposals for changes to the national qualifications framework;
  • Test specific DHE models generated from the model as well as evaluate and analyze the results obtained.

Study Visit Graz

In May 2023, the FH JOANNEUM training companies in Graz were visited in order to gain an on-site insight into the employment opportunities for students during their training: Siemens Mobility, AT&S, Brau Union, Knapp Logistics and Zotterschokolade. There was the opportunity to exchange ideas directly with the mentors of the students in the partner companies and to get to know their approach. In addition, the students reported on their personal experiences in the company and in the dual study program at a trade fair.
