Not so long ago it was assumed that furniture was not particularly suitable for the e-commerce sector. Contrary to this initial assumption, by 2018 the turnover of furniture sold online already accounted for around 17 % of the furniture industry‘s total turnover – and the trend is rising. However, the change towards online trade brings with it new requirements that must be taken into account in furniture design. Aspects such as the weight and volume of furniture are decisive factors for sustainability during the supply chain.
By means of an expandable framework construction and the use of twin-wall sheets, Air Shelf is a lightweight and customizable flatpack shelving system that meets all the requirements of a shelving system optimized for sustainable e-commerce.
