How does the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) affect exhibition design? To what extent does AI influence the work of designers? In order to answer these questions, interviews were conducted with practising designers in addition to a literature review. This revealed that AI is primarily a tool that designers can use in their work processes. Artificial intelligence plays a supporting role in this. The use of AI can accelerate project development, especially in the initial stages of a project. It is the task of museums and educational institutions to introduce and explain new technologies such as AI to people. In this way, fears and inhibitions about working with AI can be overcome. Until AI becomes part of design training programmes, designers need to try it out for themselves, however, and find out how AI can support them in their work processes.
