KADAM / Leg Prosthesis for Alpine Sports

Project Work in cooperation with Weitzer Woodsolutions

For many individuals with an artificial leg, the loss of a limb is associated with great emotional pain and can lead to mental illness. The practice of sporting activities is therefore beneficial for physical and mental well-being. The KADAM prosthesis is a lower leg prosthesis designed for alpine sports, as mountain sports are an easy way for affected individuals to get active. The focus was laid on the practice of climbing and mountaineering. The 3D-printed leg prosthesis is connected to the walking prosthesis by a “clip-lock” (similar to ski bindings). Since the appearance of the prosthesis plays an important role in its acceptance, it was designed as a hybrid of fashion accessory and sports product that amputees can wear with pride.
