An examination of the available maritime distress rescue vehicles – vessel/helicopter/aircraft – has resulted in a completely new idea: The offshore rescue vehicle NEMO is flown to the place of deployment in a C-130 Hercules. For each aircraft, units that are 320 sqm in size plus crew can be deployed as needed. NEMO can operate in extremely choppy seas, take on survivors, tow life rafts to the next vessel, and put out fires.
