The tools we use to communicate with the rapidly developing digital world have hardly changed in the past decades. Input devices are the interface between us humans and digital media, they enable interaction. The aim of this paper is to give an outlook on how today’s most used input devices, mouse and keyboard, can evolve as non-invasive interaction devices. Future work in digital media will happen ever faster, more agile and flexible and this development will also be reflected in the interaction devices, here in the form of a variable ecosystem.
