The abundance of information not only strains our stimuli, but also prevents us from concentrating on the essentials. In terms of design, it is particularly difficult to see the simple as the best, as the possibilities are almost unlimited. In order to be able to consciously absorb the content of information, the design should be as simple as possible. This master’s thesis explains the subject of simplicity and gives an overview of the aesthetics of Japanese culture. Based on certain design criteria, simplicity becomes a stylistic device for good design.
