The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to raise awareness about today’s mass consumption of clothing, and the severe consequences it entails. This thesis questions the moral, ecological and social aspects of fashion, and offers alternatives to our throwaway society. Since the term Fast Fashion is relatively new, short animation videos provide information about mass produced clothes, and how every individual can contribute to a solution which can help save the environment.
This thesis examines Fast Fashion companies, including their questionable work policies in the Third World, and their environmentally damaging processes. It also shows how transient fashion has become, as well as how the buying of second hand or fair trade clothing could reverse the negative impacts of decades of mass production.
