Gerhard Friedrich, born in Ginsheim, Hesse. After an apprenticeship as a model carpenter at Adam Opel AG, Rüsselsheim, entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences and studies of industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, department of design, graduating with a diploma in design, my professional stations were as a project designer and project manager in the commercial vehicle design studio of MAN AG in Gustavsburg.
Then project manager and deputy head of design at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH, Munich.
Since 1988 BMW AG, Munich, Group Manager Design and Aero-Design. Subsequently responsible for an exterior product line, then head of department and responsible for product line management design of all BMW vehicles in the large series. Currently consultant for Mobility Design and Product Design.
Appointment as honorary professor at the Berlin School of Art in January 2012, where he has been teaching in the Product Design department since 2003.
Currently, teaching positions at various renowned universities in Austria and abroad such as HS Pforzheim, Transportation Design course; FH Joanneum Graz, Mobility Design; HTW Berlin, Faculties of Engineering and Design; FH Salzburg, Design and Product Management; HS Stralsund, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering course and international guest lectures on Mobility Design.
Appointments as jury member for the Bavarian State Prize for Young Designers and the Saxon State Prize for Design.
