Profile
Portrait Gudrun Schappacher-Tilp completed her master's degree in Mathematics at the University of Graz, Austria, in 1999 and started her career as a project manager at Roche Diagnostics GmbH. Concurrently with her professional work, she earned her PhD in Mathematics from the Institute of Mathematics and Scientific Computing at Karl-Franzens-University Graz in 2003. Following a research stay as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Calgary in Canada from 2007 to 2008, she dedicated herself to academia and taught at the Institute of Mathematics at Karl-Franzens-University Graz. During this period, she also pursued a doctoral degree in Medical Sciences at the Medical University of Graz. In 2020, she began as a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Electronic Engineering at the FH Joanneum – University of Applied Sciences. Since 2022, she has held the position of Associate Professor at the same institution. Her research interests include, among others, the development of mathematical models for complex processes, their analysis and applications, as well as statistical methods.
Her main motivation for teaching: love for applied mathematics and the belief that mathematical thinking is indispensable for problem-solving in applied sciences and engineering.
