Profile
Martin Prettenthaler studied architecture and industrial engineering at the Technical University in Graz. Afterwards he worked in various architectural offices in Graz and after passing the civil engineering examination he was awarded the professional title of architect in 2004. He regularly takes part in design competitions, which have also been honored with prizes. Since 2008 he is a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers in Styria and Carinthia. In addition to his work as a freelance architect and designer, he teaches Design Basics, Design History and Design Management at the Industrial Design course. As part of his work at the Industrial Design course, he regularly organizes exhibitions and symposia on the subject of design. Under the title "Design Mail" the best works of the students were published.
Since 2016 he has been project manager of the Wood C.A.R. research project at FH JOANNEUM. The aim of the project is to increase the use of wood as a structural component in automotive engineering. Around twenty partners from industry and the university environment are working intensively together on this cooperative research. The partner companies are located in Austria and Germany.
Martin Prettenthaler lives with his wife Julia and his two children in Graz.

DESIGN MAIL (2016 - 2018)
A total of 105 issues of the journal "Design Mail" have been published so far. In this journal, the designs of the students, which were created in the Industrial Design course, have been documented.
