Environmental management (FT)

My Studies

What is Environmental Management?

After two foundation semesters, the Bachelor’s degree programme Environmental Management offers the opportunity to specialise further in one subject area (environment, energy or mobility) from the third semester onwards.

Sustainable environmental technologies and environmental management

Modern environmental management is the topic of the future for companies in various sectors. In order to achieve our climate targets, we need to monitor emissions, recognise environmental pollution and create a serious circular economy. The conscious use of our limited resources is a prerequisite for a secure future. During your studies, you will acquire the necessary expertise to master the challenges of the green transition. The range of topics covered in the lectures extends from green innovation and change management to environmental process engineering, climate physics and resource management.

You also have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and complete additional certified training, for example as a waste or environmental officer. As experts in modern environmental management, you will be in high demand in various industrial sectors.

Modern energy concepts

The cities of the future require modern and innovative energy concepts for sustainable development. These approaches are also highly relevant for industrial companies. As part of your degree programme, you will learn about the latest concepts in this specialist area in a practice-oriented way in the Energy Analytics and Solution Lab from the first semester onwards. In lectures such as Energy Technologies, Energy Sources and Materials in the Energy Transition, Energy Distribution Networks or Energy System Planning, you will not only learn about the energy supply of the future from a technical perspective, but also about aspects of economic efficiency and environmental impact. In order to meet the requirements of industry, we train you in the areas of industrial energy efficiency, storage technologies and energy management.

Intelligent mobility systems

Increasing urbanisation and the effects of climate change are placing greater demands on our mobility systems. Urban centres are struggling with increased traffic volumes, particulate pollution and congestion in transport networks. The city of the future needs intelligent mobility concepts that increase the quality of life and reduce environmental pollution. As part of the programme, you will learn about strategies for a mobility turnaround. We provide you with the necessary tools for analysing and planning modern mobility systems and logistics concepts. In order to be at the cutting edge of technology, you will also deal with smart cities, infrastructure design and planning and innovative mobility solutions, such as e-mobility, autonomous driving and soft mobility.

Crisis and project management

Companies are increasingly looking for all-round talents who are skilful in their area of specialisation, but can also be deployed across the board. Business management expertise and the ability to present yourself perfectly are indispensable for industrial engineers. During your studies, you will learn the essential skills in the areas of project management, communication and conflict management. Courses such as Business Management and Leadership, Management Systems and Mediation in Projects provide you with the necessary expertise to present yourself confidently in everyday working life.
