The internship represents the combination of theory and practice in its most intense form. It allows students to try working with clients in an interdisciplinary team and to apply their new knowledge directly under supervision. From the second semester our students therefore spend periods of varying lengths at hospitals and other health and social service establishments.
In the Occupational Therapy degree programme, practical training takes in acute and long-term medicine, rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. The diversity of the diseases, impairments and different age groups that the students encounter enables them to gain a detailed insight into the profession.
Internships abroad are desirable but not obligatory. Institutions hosting internships abroad are subject to the same quality guidelines as those within Austria. We also ensure that the students receive the necessary support and supervision.
