eHealth

To graduate from the degree programme, you must:

• successfully complete all the classes and the compulsory internship
• produce a Bachelor’s thesis which must receive a pass mark
• pass the Bachelor’s examination

Your title on graduation will be “Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc)“.

The Bachelor’s thesis demonstrate if, within a given time period, the student is capable of considering a problem taken from a specific subject area and present their work appropriately. Students on the eHealth Bachelor’s degree programme must submit a written thesi in the 6th semester.

Students can either suggest their own topics for their thesis, or select from a pool of internal research topics. We recommend that the subject of the thesis be directly relevant to the internship. The Bachelor’s thesis can also be written in cooperation with companies, industrial partners or health institutions. We regularly receive an interesting selection of suggested topics from our partners which we then pass on to students.

During the Theory and Practice of Research course run in the 5th semester, students can prepare to write their Bachelor’s thesis. A seminar run in the 6th semester assists students producing their thesis.

Early date: end of 6th summer semester, usually beginning of July
Main date: before the start of the winter semester, usually in September
Later date: in February of the following year

The examination takes place before an examining board and involves:

• presenting the Bachelor’s thesis in English and defending the thesis in German
• examination in a specialist subject area
• examination in a further specialist subject area

Graduates may go on to take a Master’s degree in eHealth. The benefits are numerous:

• A Master’s degree allows students to extend and deepen their knowledge and skills.
• A Master’s degree opens up even greater job and career opportunities, as well as the chance to move into a management role within a short space of time.
• The Master’s degree can be followed by a doctorate at many universities.
• The programme is designed to enable students to work part-time whilst studying.
