Practical projects where you apply what you have learnt play an important role in our programme. Even during the first semester, students become involved in a real-life project which is managed by Master’s students for various renowned companies. Fifth semester students also form part of this organisational team. Team meetings give members from the various year groups the opportunity to benefit from one another: they apply what they have learnt and provide input from a range of perspectives – based on the different levels of knowledge of the various students. The degree programme also runs various research projects for the tourism and health sector outside the classroom.

Over the years, the Water Jug Race has become an integral part of the event calendar in the Bad Gleichenberg region. Each year, sporting fans from the region gather together to take part in various runs from a competitive relay to a creative run, all organised by students from FH JOANNEUM. The event is independently planned and finally implemented by students in cooperation with the Festival of the Future which traditionally takes place on the same day. The Master’s students who act as project managers as well as the students on the Bachelor’s course are responsible for the entire event – from theoretical planning to fund raising and organisation.
