Students on both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme in Industrial Design have the opportunity to spend the fourth semester at a partner university. The chance to experience a different culture and new approaches to problems and the exposure to a foreign language while living abroad is very important, particularly for industrial designers.
Students are supported in all aspects throughout the course: in the application process, during the semester abroad and following their return to FH JOANNEUM.
Students apply by addressing an application letter in English and a CV to the head of degree programme and the international coordinator. The head of degree programme decides whether the student is allowed to undertake a period abroad. The availability of funding varies depending on the partner university and country, including Erasmus grants and Austrian Marshall Plan scholarships.
The partner universities for the Industrial Design degree programmes have been selected on the basis of strict quality criteria to ensure our students derive maximum benefit from their time abroad. Industrial Design students can choose between partner universities in Scandinavia, Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and China.
Our International Coordinator will be happy to help you with any queries regarding the semester abroad.
