Studies completed at FH JOANNEUM: Industrial Management, Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Job description: International ERP Service Manager
Company: XAL GmbH
I work in: Graz, Styria
I’ve worked here since: 2016
Contact: clemens.artner@gmx.at
Web: Clemens Artner (XING)
What I do:
I am responsible for the roll-out of the new ERP system in the fields of procurement and shop floor control. This includes defining the company processes, implementing them in the new ERP system, compiling training documents and training employees across the world.
Why I love my job:
- International assignments (travelling to all of the company’s sites)
- Team work
- High level of flexibility
- Possibilities for promotion
- Changing areas of work
Important skills in my job:
- Flexibility
- Willingness to work hard
- Readiness to travel
- Quick grasp of new things
My biggest accomplishment so far:
It is a success for me to have been a fully valued member of the project team from the outset, to hold meetings with the CEO and departmental managers, to have trained the entire India site in my fields after just 5 months and to have implemented a successful roll-out.
How I found my current job:
I was recruited by a course colleague. If I am honest, I wanted to do a Master’s first.
What I learned for this job during my studies:
Since the ERP system covers the entire company, the interdisciplinary Industrial Management course was perfect for this job. I have at least an overview of all the other fields and this makes my work much easier. At the end of the day, all parts of the ERP system must work together and that can only be achieved if all departments collaborate. Of course, the information management lectures were really helpful.
Job prospects in my field:
The job prospects are essentially very good because, in the future, all companies from SMEs to large corporations will need to introduce an ERP system or update their existing one. There are no obstacles to progressing in this career if you have a good grasp of things.
I am:
- target-driven
- open to everything
- positive
