Career opportunities

Graduates of the Master Certificate Programme develop professional and participatory work with children, young people and families in social spaces. They identify regional needs, initiate positive developments for individuals, groups and the community and incorporate international developments.

Occupational fields

Graduates can work in project management assume complex functional roles in open, associative and flexible children’s, youth and family work. They can take on positions of responsibility in areas such as personnel, budget and controlling as well as in negotiations with funding providers. Graduates are able to analyse the development and actions of colleagues and teams responsibly and critically and are also familiar with organisational guidelines. They have basic knowledge of documentation, planning and evaluation, conduct research in the social sciences and also commission complex studies.

Open youth work in particular serves as an interface to other institutions and stakeholders and acts as a mouthpiece for the interests of young people. Traditional youth work activities range from open activities in youth centres to events such as concerts, excursions and discussions to structured offers involving workshops and projects on topics such as sexuality, drugs, addiction, violence and bullying.
