You can work in any area of speech and language therapy straight after graduating. In other words you’ll be working with people of all ages who have various degrees of language impairment, speech disorders, voice disorders, difficulty swallowing and hearing disorders. You can either work in an employed position within an interdisciplinary team (for example, in a clinic, an outpatient department or in a private institution) or on a self-employed basis in your own practice.
Numerous opportunities are available for further training and professional development to extend and consolidate your knowledge and to specialise in different areas. Although no Austrian university of applied sciences currently offers a Master’s course in speech therapy, you can enrol on various Master’s degree programmes on the basis of your Bachelor’s degree so that you can pursue your own interests.
