Job description: Intern in Logistics Project Management

Place: Frankfurt am Main, Germany
I did my internship from August 2013 to February 2014.
What I did:
I supported the project team for Interim Management LCCneo: construction of a new freight centre for Lufthansa Cargo at Frankfurt airport.
Why I enjoyed my internship:
Working as part of a fantastic and committed team, independently handling exciting and challenging tasks and getting to know Lufthansa Cargo and the entire group based at the Frankfurt site, for example, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines, Lufthansa Technik, LSG Sky Chefs and Lufthansa Flight Training.
What I learned:
Comprehensive insight into cargo handling processes and their interfaces
Methods involved in an agile software development project
Training preparation and implementation
My biggest success / My greatest experience:
The successful introduction of a new forklift guidance system which I helped develop
Participation in the roll-in event for the first Boeing 777 freighter and freighter loading in the movement area
How I secured the internship:
I applied for the internship position via the Lufthansa careers website. I received prompt confirmation of my place following a telephone interview and a face-to-face interview in Frankfurt.
What I want to do in the future:
After my internship, I completed my Master’s thesis with Lufthansa Cargo as part of a follow-on internship. After completing my course, I successfully applied for a place on the ‘International Airline Professional’ trainee programme with Lufthansa Cargo in Vienna. This is providing me with optimal preparation for an exciting and responsible position with the company up until the end of 2015.
