International Management

My Studies

What is International Management?

We train experts looking to pursue a career in international companies or organisations. Graduates generally take up positions in sales, marketing, finance and human resources departments. Our applicants are interested in business processes and have a strong aptitude for number work. If you would like to apply for this degree programme it is crucial that you are open towards people from other cultures and keen to learn more languages.

By choosing to study International Management you are selecting a degree programme that combines business and legal aspects while at the same time providing you with the necessary soft skills required for working in a globalised business environment. Our lecturers not only share their professional experiences with students but also incorporate these directly in their teaching practice. International company strategies are not only taught on a theoretical level but also directly through project work and case studies. The practical focus and direct contact with companies while you are studying enables you to build up a network that will prove very helpful when you are looking for employment after graduation. We want you to have a truly international experience and studying abroad is therefore an important part of our curriculum. Students spend their fourth semester studying abroad. Knowledge gained is reinforced and extended in the mandatory internship, which students complete in the fifth semester.

What will I learn?

Business and Management

We take a step-by-step approach to teaching you all about the various aspects of management and organisation, HR management and project management. Success at international level requires extensive knowledge of capital markets – knowledge you will acquire through our focus on finance and accounting. Marketing modules are taught from the first semester: we start with the fundamentals of marketing and later work on specific areas such as industrial and capital goods marketing, services marketing and strategic marketing.

Law

Our law modules provide you with in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework, which plays a crucial role in transnational business activities. By studying various different legal systems you will be in a position to successfully apply your knowledge in making decisions and assessing risks involved in future market entries. Following a thorough introduction to theory you will be able to apply legal thinking and work techniques.

Languages and soft skills

In our degree programme, particular importance is attached to professional communication and intercultural skills. Our languages modules aim to prepare you for working in an international environment. French and Spanish are taught at post-A level or post-high school level and Russian, Spanish and Chinese are offered as second foreign language options starting at beginner level. You will also perfect your English with a particular focus on economic and business language. We will support you and help you on your way to successfully presenting ideas and formulating suggestions with confidence so that you can feel comfortable and at ease in any given situation. The mandatory semester abroad will also provide you with opportunities to hone and improve your intercultural and language skills.
