3 countries, 2 continents, 1 goal – Vikash Shyamjibhai Maiyani knows what he wants: to receive his 2nd master’s degree in System Test Engineering.
8000 km to his dream
Nina Blasonig, 11. Januar 2021Openness for new products and new techniques, attention to detail, working in different cities and countries, willingness for continuing education – Vikash S. Maiyani is passionate about all these subjects no matter if in his professional life as a System Test Engineer or in his private life as a hobby cook.
Born and raised in India he was not only was raised with the typical Indian kitchen but as well found his passion in Engineering and studied Electrical Engineering which he finished in 2016.
“I am a quite open and curious person and was convinced that doing a master’s degree program in Europe would be the right choice”, he says. In Riga, Latvia he gained his first master in Power Electronics and discovered afterwards the possibility to do another master’s degree program “System Test Engineering” at FH JOANNEUM in Graz.
“I immediately knew that I want to do this second master as because this field is highly demanded in the industry. What completely convinced me to come to Austria is the fact that there are so many professionals from the industry teaching at this degree program and the chances to do an internship besides are very high”, he says.
Vikash is on fire: “This is the big difference to my education in the bachelor’s the big practical part that keeps you engaging during the studies. The faculty members are very helpful if you have any issues, the topics are implemented as well in other topics, we can work more efficiently and the structure of the courses is coordinated with the next semester. It’s a little bit like cooking, it only works well if you have all necessary equipment and tools at the right moment”.
Vikash has already managed to work besides his studies (as well in the the catering branch) but his goal is to get a job in a company where he can develop smart and integrated chips or where he can deal with new technologies to make this world a better place.
“After a long day at the university, biking or cooking with and for friends gives me immense relaxation. During cooking you can learn something new every time you are doing it and use various ingedients to bring out something delicious and this is the same as for being an system engineer”, he adds.
