Master’s thesis

An essential requirement for graduation is the Master’s thesis. This allows students to delve deeper into a subject area of particular interest to them. They expand their skills in scientific and systematic methodology to solve applied research questions based on the experience gained in the Bachelor’s thesis. The Master’s thesis is planned for the fourth semester, but can also be started earlier. Supervision is offered to students by lecturers from the degree programme or external experts. The progress of the thesis is regularly discussed with the supervisors and the topics are presented and discussed in a seminar in front of fellow students. It is possible for several students to work on one topic, whereby the individual results are assessed separately. Collaboration with companies is encouraged and utilised by many students in order to strengthen the connection to the economy.

Master’s examination

Two dates are scheduled for the Master’s examination in the final year. The examination consists of the following:

  • Presentation and defence of the Master’s thesis in English using a scientific poster
  • Examination on a group of specialist subjects chosen by the candidate
  • Examination on professionally-relevant subjects drawn from the programme as a whole

The public examination is conducted by an examination board composed of the following:

  • Head of degree programme or a faculty member
  • Supervisor for the Master’s thesis
  • Examiner for the complementary subject

The Master’s examination lasts a total of 60 minutes.
