My Studies

Requirements

To graduate from the degree programme in Environmental Management, you must:

  • successfully complete all the classes and internships
  • produce a two-part Bachelor‘s thesis which must receive a pass mark
  • pass the Bachelor’s examination

Your title on graduation will be “Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc)”.

Bachelor’s thesis

At the end of the degree programme, our students have to write a Bachelor’s thesis. The thesis deals with a scientific, programme-related topic. For example, students can carry out a detailed literature review on a specific topic or write a practical thesis in collaboration with their company. They can choose the topic of their Bachelor’s thesis themselves or work on it in cooperation with a company.

The possibilities are very diverse: for example, our students can create environmental and sustainability concepts, analyse mobility flows or develop concepts to improve energy efficiency or logistics. Market analyses and economic considerations are also possible as part of the Bachelor’s thesis.

The Bachelor’s thesis must comply with the scientific work requirements of the degree programme.

Bachelor’s examination

The Bachelor’s examination takes place after the successful completion of all six semesters. The examination is chaired by the head of the degree programme. A lecturer and the supervisor of the Bachelor’s thesis also sit on the committee.

The students first present their first Bachelor’s thesis in a presentation. The committee then asks questions about the thesis and other relevant content from the degree programme and links to the final thesis. The ability to solve interdisciplinary tasks is tested.

Nach dem Bachelorabschluss

Graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programme are eligible to study for a Master’s degree in „Energy Technologies“, „Mobility Technologies“ or„European Green Transformation“. This offers graduates the opportunity to extend their knowledge in the many areas related to energy and mobility. By continuing with further academic qualifications, graduates improve their career opportunities.

Our graduates are also eligible to join other Master’s degree programmes at FH JOANNEUM and other universities, both in Austria and abroad. Graduates can, of course, immediately enter the job market and put their newly-gained knowledge into practice.
