Semester abroad

Environmental, energy and mobility systems are international infrastructure topics that are implemented differently in different regions. The optional semester abroad therefore opens up new worlds for students and a wide range of career prospects after graduation. Intercultural specialist and language skills are a prerequisite for many employers and can be a significant advantage for further development in the company.

Procedure for the semester abroad

Students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in the fourth or fifth semester.
The FH JOANNEUM International Office organises the semester abroad. In cooperation with the partner universities, the content of the degree programmes is compared and suitable courses that can be credited to the student’s own degree programme are jointly determined.

Of course, students can also take the initiative to visit a university that is not yet part of our partner network and spend a semester abroad there. In this case, the crediting of courses must also be agreed in advance with the programme director. Our students also have the opportunity to complete their compulsory work placement at a company abroad in order to further develop their intercultural skills.

Partner universities

The partner universities are selected to ensure the widest possible geographical coverage and that our students have as many cultures as possible to choose from. Another important factor is the range of courses on offer: care is taken to ensure that the programmes are as compatible as possible.
